On October 25, a meeting of the Consultative Council of the religious denominations operating in Azerbaijan was held at the Caucasian Muslims Office (CMU).
The issues of preparation for the Global Summit of World Religious Leaders, which will begin its work in Baku on November 5, were discussed at the meeting held under the leadership of CMB Chairman Sheikhul Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh.
His Highness Sheikhulislam said that on the eve of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be hosted by our country, the Global Summit of World Religious Leaders is planned to be held in Baku: The prestigious event will be held under the slogan "World Religions for a Green Planet". The partners of the summit are the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, the Administration of Caucasian Muslims, the International Council of Muslim Elders and the UN Environment Program. More than 220 guests representing 55 countries, 30 international organizations, and leading mass media are expected to participate in the Global Summit, which will be attended by leaders of world and traditional religions, representatives of various confessions and world-renowned representatives of religion and public."
The chairman of the CMB said that our country, which has successfully hosted many important and globally significant events in recent years, including the I and II Summits of World Religious Leaders, brings together the heads of religious centers, influential people representing various religions and confessions. The Global Summit of World Religious Leaders aims to make a real contribution of religious leaders to the spiritual evaluation of an issue of great importance for the future of our planet - the problem of climate change.
Saying that religion-state relations are at a high level in Azerbaijan, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade expressed his belief that the religious denominations operating in our country will soon participate in the work of the Global Summit: "Guests coming to this event will be able to see once again the high level of religious harmony, dialogue between religions and cultures, and tolerance in Azerbaijan. ".
